As a former wrestler, former Golden Gopher, and passionate wrestling fan, it was with great pleasure that I was invited to interview, and write an article about Tony Nelson.
Nelson won two NCAA championships, at heavyweight for the Golden Gophers, and nearly won a third, only losing in the finals to Nick Gwiazdowski, the currently #1-ranked heavyweight for the NC.State Wolfpack.
While currently a volunteer member of the coaching staff at the U, Tony Nelson is also working towards success as a wrestler on the international stage. We sat down for lunch at Manning's and talked about a number of topics including his international aspirations, faith, family, and the rivalry with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
